  • What is The Amity Family Curious Experiences For Travelers?

    The Amity Family Curious Experiences For Travelers is an in-Destination experiences creator and operator. We exclusively offer private and guided multi-themed tours in Portugal and we strive to foster travelers' curiosity in all our offerings, whether listed or customized.

  • Is the company licensed and insured?

    Yes, and yes. We comply with all the legal, safety and health requirements.

    We are a tour operator licensed by the Portuguese Tourism Authority and the registration number of our license is 51/2013. And we are a fully insured tour operator, both for the liability of our operations and for the personal injury of the participants in our tours and activities.

  • Is the company experienced?

    Yes. The company is locally owned and is based in Nazaré and Lisbon, Portugal. We’ve been running tours and activities all over the country for over a decade, since 2013, and have proudly dealt with travelers from 20+ different origins to date.

  • Are your tours eco-friendly?

    Yes. We run environmentally sustainable tours, which is why we call them eco-Tours, since the greenhouse gas emissions generated by each tour are 100% offset through certified providers.

  • Are your tours family-friendly?

    Absolutely. And as the tours are private, there is no minimum age limit for travelers. On most of our listed tours, travel is free for children under 11 and, on some of them, the ticket is even significantly reduced for young people under 17. If we have small children, we can provide suitable child car seats and we always travel with toy and painting kits, as well as lollipops on board ;-)

  • Do you do customized tours?

    Yes. If you've been inspired by one of our tours listed on our website but would like to make some adjustments or if you want to go somewhere or do something you can't find on our website, contact us directly and we'll help you build a tailor-made experience. Let's customize. Challenge us.

Bookings and Tickets

  • How do I book a tour?

    You can book a tour online, on our website, or offline, by contacting us directly by sending an email or filling in the contact form.

  • How many people can I book?

    You can instantly book from 2 to 6 people on the tours listed on the website. If you want to book just 1 or 6+ travelers on the tours listed on the website or for a customized tour, contact us directly for availability and quotation.

  • Do I have to book for the children?

    Yes. You must book seats for children regardless of their age and whether it is advertised as free for them. During the booking process, you will be asked to inform us of the ages of your children at the time of travel so that we can provide suitable child car seats at no extra cost.

  • I'm a solo traveler. Can I book a tour?

    Yes... but! Solo travelers are welcome and we love to take them on tour. Remember, though, that we only sell and operate private tours. This means that if you book with us, you won't be joining other travelers, but booking a tour just for you. However, it is not possible to book a one-person tour online. To do this, you will have to book directly with us. We'll be sure to give you a discount on the price.

  • I have mobility impairment. Can I book one of your tours?

    Of course. You can book any of our tours and you'll be very welcome. However, please note that some attractions and sites included in our itineraries may have access limitations. To date, we have been able to make high-quality visits with all the mobility-impaired travelers who have been on our tours, although in one situation or another there have been accessibility limitations, but without any significant impact on the overall quality of the tour. Our recommendation is that you contact us in advance so that we can jointly evaluate the option that best suits you.

  • I have dietary restrictions. Can I book your tours?

    Yes. You can book any of our tours. Just let us know your condition at the time of booking or even afterwards and we will always take this into account to provide suitable alternatives when booking lunches, dinners or food stops. However, please note that the tastings of local delicacies included or suggested on some tours may not be replaceable.

  • Is booking a tour with you instant?

    Yes. If you book a tour at our website, it's immediate. So that you can book easily, quickly and securely at our website, we have partnered with Bókun, a Tripadvisor company and one of the world's most reputable booking tools for tours and activities. Enjoy a smooth, transparent booking experience with up-to-date availability and fast booking confirmation.   • Can I book without a date?

    No... but. Unfortunately, you can't book a tour without a date. If you want to do a tour with us and want to proceed with a booking but you're not sure of the date yet, our recommendation is that you book the date you want and when you've decided on the final date, change the booking if you need to. You can do this because our cancellation policy allows changes to the booking up to 24 hours before departure free of charge. Please note, however, that when you change your booking, you will always be subject to availability. In other words, date changes are not guaranteed and price variations may apply.   • How far in advance should I book a tour?

    This is not something we can tell you specifically. It depends on the tour, the season, the date and other factors. To guarantee your preferred date, we recommend booking your tour as early as possible to ensure availability. Most of our offers listed on the website are available for booking up to 10 hours before departure time. You should check this information in the description of each offer.

  • How can I confirm my online booking?

    You must start and complete a booking process on the website, from the booking widget available on the tour page you have selected. The booking process is complete with payment. As soon as payment is confirmed, you will receive an email confirming your booking. If you don't receive the booking confirmation email, first check your spam folder and if you still don't receive it, please contact us directly and as soon as possible.

  • How do I get my tour ticket?

    Only the tour ticket gives access to the tour. Your tour ticket will be sent to you via email between 7 and 2 days before the date booked for the tour. Unless you book 48 hours before the tour departs. In this case you will receive your tour ticket up to 10 hours before departure.

  • Do I need to print out my tour ticket?

    No. Unless otherwise indicated and informed, which may happen, you don't need to print the tour ticket. You just need to show it to the Tour Guide from your mobile phone so that he/she can scan it before departure.

Changes and Cancellations

  • Can I change the date of my booking?

    Yes. You can change the date of your booking whenever you want and as many times as you want, as long as you do so within the time limit of the cancellation policy, which is, for almost all the offers listed on our website, up to 24 hours before the tour departs. Please note that date changes are always subject to availability and price variations may apply.

  • Can I change the tour on my booking?

    Yes, you can change the tour of your booking if the change is made within the limits of the cancellation policy. Please note that you can only do this by contacting us directly. The change of tour may result in price variations.

  • Can I change my mind about what to do or visit while on tour?

    Yes... but. The tour is private. Therefore, it is you who sets the pace and the path that the tour can take. During the tour, we have complete flexibility to listen, assess, advise, react and decide together with you on any sudden interests and wishes. However, extra costs may apply. You decide on the go. Power to you.

  • Can I cancel my booking at no cost?

    Yes... but. Almost all of the offers on our website are refundable in the event of cancellation and the vast majority of them allow you to cancel up to 24 hours before departure free of charge. Occasionally you may find a booking option for the same offer at a lower price but on the condition that it is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. We recommend that you check the details of each offer and its cancellation policy. The cancellation policy may differ on customized and offline bookings.   • How do I get my refund?

    Refunds are processed using the same method as the payment, minus all applicable transaction processing fees. You can read more about this in our Booking Terms and Conditions.

Tours and Services

  • How many people will be on my tour?

    None. Apart from the people in your group, no one else. All our tours are privately operated.

  • Are your tours self-guided, audio-guided or live-guided?

    All our tours listed on the website are live-guided by a Tour Guide. Occasionally, on some customized tours, we also include audio-guided visits to some attractions.

  • Does the Tour Guide assist us in visiting the attractions?

    Yes… but. As the tour is private and the group of travelers is very small, all tours are operated with a driver-guide. This means that your Tour Guide is also your driver. The Guide will accompany and assist you in visiting all the attractions included in the program. The guide will not accompany you when you visit the optional attractions. However, he will be able to assist with ticket purchases and access to the optional attraction, but not with guided visits inside.


  • Are your drivers and tour guides experienced?

    Yes. All driver-guides have more than 10 years' experience of driving and leading tours. They are experienced, knowledgeable, trained and even certified. And not least, they are friendly and very passionate locals.

  • Are your guides trained in first aid?

    Yes. Our Tour Guides are trained and even certified in CPR and first aid. You should also know that we always travel with a first aid kit.

  • Do your tours have language options to choose from?

    Yes. All our listed guided tours offer 4 language options, namely English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. You will be able to choose the language option at the checkout of the booking process.

  • What's transportation like?

    All our vehicles are very comfortable. Depending on your choice of tour and the number of participants, the vehicle can be a sedan, SUV, mini-van or 4WD. All vehicles have air conditioning, except for some of the 4WD vehicles.

  • Is there Wi-Fi on board?

    Yes, there is Wi-Fi on board, and you can also charge your mobile devices on board, except for some of the 4WD vehicles.

  • Are there water and other amenities on board?

    Yes. On any of our tours you have water throughout the tour and other amenities and treats on board, such as sweet and salty cookies, sweets, gum and lollipops, Kleenex and hand sanitizer and whenever possible an extra tasty treat.

  • Are tickets to attractions included?

    Yes and no. It depends on the tour and we recommend that you check the inclusions and exclusions described in each offer. There are tours where we include entrance fees to attractions and there are tours where we don't. If you would like to book one of our offers that excludes entrance to the attractions and you would like to include the entrance fees, please contact us directly and we will be happy to arrange this for you, making the tour a custom one.

  • Does the tour include lunch?

    No. Although on some of the tours listed on our website we offer the possibility of booking lunch as an add-on, meals are not included in the program or in the price of the tours. However, we always set aside enough time for you to have a meal. Once you book and if you wish, just let us know about your intentions and we’ll be happy to recommend and book restaurants according to your preferences free of charge.

Pick-up and Departures

  • Are pick-up and drop-off included?

    Yes. On the tours listed on the website, Pick-up and Drop-off are included anywhere within a very wide and predefined geographical area. Please note that if you point out a pick-up address located in a restricted area or with very limited access, we will suggest in advance an alternative meeting point which will always be convenient for you.

    As the tours are private, there is always the possibility of picking up wherever you want. So, if you want a pick-up outside the predefined geographical area on the listed tours or for customized tours, contact us directly for validation at no extra cost or extra fee.

  • Can I be picked up at the airport or at the cruise terminal?

    Yes. The Lisbon airport and cruise terminal facilities are located within the pre-determined geographical area for pick-up included in tours departing from the Lisbon area. So yes, we can pick you up and drop you off at these facilities without any additional charges for the Meet & Greet service.

  • Can you pick me up in one city and drop me off in another?

    Yes, of course. The offers listed on our website depart from and arrive in the same city. However, if you want to depart from one city and be dropped off in another, we can customize the tour as you wish. Let us know in advance so that we can adjust the tour itinerary. Extra costs may apply.

  • Are you flexible with your departure times?

    Yes...but. As the tours are private, we can adjust the departure time to suit you. But note that depending on the time adjustment made, there may be limitations to the itinerary. When booking on our website you can only select a non-adjustable departure time. Notify us when you book or contact us directly after booking to let us know which departure time suits you best.

  • What happens if I don't show up?

    First of all, if you don't notify us, on arrival at the meeting point on the day of the tour we will make an effort to contact you, find out why you are late and arrange new departure as possible. Secondly, if you don't show up, we'll be sad not to meet you and tour you around. Thirdly, if you don't show up, unfortunately you won't be entitled to a refund. Prices and Payments

  • How can I find out the price of the tour?

    On the website’s tours page, simply select the tour of your choice, open the tour page and you will automatically access the booking widget where you can: indicate the number of travelers in your group, choose the date of your choice, select the option that suits you best and choose the departure time. Selecting at least two of these factors will instantly display the price of your booking. Transparent and hassle-free.

  • What are the prices like?

    In the offers listed on the website the prices are published per person and vary according to the size of the group. Prices include taxes but not tips or gratuities which are optional. In customized offers, prices can be provided per person, per group or per package. Whether online, on our website, or offline, in a customized form, prices are always given in Euros (€).   • Do your tours include taxes and fees?

    Yes. Our listed tours include all taxes and fees, private transportation, fuel, tolls and parking expenses.

  • What payment options do you accept?

    For bookings made directly on our website, you can pay by credit card (Visa, Amex, Mastercard, Discover and many others) or via PayPal. For bookings made offline and directly with us, other options may be available, such as Google Pay, Apple Pay, wire transfer and others.

  • I don't want to use a credit card. Can I make a booking?

    Of course. But you can only do this by contacting us directly. We will be happy to process your booking and provide you with an alternative and secure method of payment.

  • My online purchase is making an error. What should I do?

    The payment process through our website is automated and secure through a payment provider. Please double-check that all your credit card details have been entered. If the problem persists and you have no way of booking through the website, please contact us directly. We will be happy to process your booking and provide you with an alternative and secure method of payment.

  • I have a Promo Code. How do I use it?

    Great! You can only use it to make a reservation on our website. Once you've started the booking process, a specific field will appear for you to enter the code. The discount will be automatic. Remember that the Promo Code must be used during the booking process, before the purchase process is finalized and payment made. Please note that promotional codes are targeted. In other words, the validity of the codes varies and they can be redeemed only for making bookings during a certain period of time, or for traveling on specific dates, or on a specific offer, or for a set of specific offers, among other possibilities and combinations. General Stuff

  • Can I rate and complete a review of my experience? Where?

    Of course. You can rate and review your experience on Tripadvisor and/or Google. We'd appreciate it. If you want to post your experience on Instagram and tag us, search for @theamityfamily

  • How can I contact you?

    You can contact us by email (experiences@thamityfamily.com) or by phone and WhatsApp (+351910743298) during office hours, which are Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 5:30pm (UTC+0).

  • How can I contact you once in the Destination?

    Once you've booked, someone from the team will be assigned to assist you and you'll be given their direct email and phone/WhatsApp contact details. You should always turn to this person in the first place, as he/she will be dedicated and knowledgeable about the details of your booking. Furthermore, your Tour Guide's mobile phone number will be included on the tour ticket so that you can contact him/her if anything unexpected comes up or you want to clarify anything at the last minute.

  • Does the tour take place in extreme weather conditions?

    Yes. We run our tours in the rain, wind or shine. Any cancellations initiated by us due to extreme weather conditions will only take place in the event of a national or local emergency officially declared by the authorities.

  • Can I take bicycles on the tour?

    No. Unfortunately you can't. Our touring vehicles are not equipped to transport bicycles.

  • Can I take wheelchairs, mobility scooters or strollers on the tour?

    Yes... but. You can take wheelchairs, mobility scooters or strollers as long as they are foldable to fit in the luggage compartment of the vehicle.

  • Can I take my luggage on the tour?

    Yes... but. As the tour is private, you can bring your own luggage as well as that of your group as long as you inform us in advance, and we authorize it. Depending on the number of seats booked and whether or not there is luggage to carry, we will assign a vehicle to do the tour. For safety reasons we only accept standard luggage up to the capacity of the luggage compartment of the vehicle assigned to the tour. If we find that we can't carry all your group's luggage, we will suggest other options and extra costs may apply.

  • Do I need to bring ID?

    Recommended. It is always advisable to carry identification. Whether it's us, attractions or other third-party suppliers included in the tour program, such as wineries, restaurants and others, you may be asked for ID, especially if you have booked or wish to access age-rated seats, entrances or services at a lower price and which are usually aimed at children and young people. On the other hand, it is convenient to have it in the event of a medical emergency.
